Projects

Here are some ways we are involved with our community:

Carseat donation!

Carseats involved in motor vehicle accidents are no longer safe to use. The integrity of the carseat could be compromised, and it is impossible to tell to what extent it may have been damaged.

Often, members in our community do not have the excess funds to purchase a new car seat, and that is where the Benevolent Fund can step in to help.

Shoes for Spring!

In Spring of 2022 we kickstarted a new annual event: in partnership with Operation Warm, the Redmond Fire Fighter’s Benevolent Fund is giving out free shoes to kids in need.

We are focused on those kids that are enrolled in the free/reduced lunch program at selected Redmond elementary schools, aiming to reach those who have the greatest need. The event is twofold: we go out to visit with the kiddos to size their feet and give them a special tour of our fire engine, and then come back a few weeks later to deliver the shoes!

Your donations go straight to helping those within our community:
fast kicks can mean a lot to our young generation who may not be as fortunate.

Operation Warm: Coats for Kids

The RFF’s Benevolent Fund partners with Operation Warm and school counselors to distribute new coats to children in the community. We believe in providing warmth, confidence, and hope to children in need through the gift of a brand new winter coat.

Fire fighters visit schools, sizing kids and distributing coats during the cool fall months.

RFD’s Fallen Fire Fighter’s Scholarship Program:

The Redmond Fire Fighter's Union and the RFFBF offer High School scholarships to the Redmond Community. Each applicant must be applying as a full-time student into an accredited school, vocational or technical program.

The scholarships will be awarded deserving individuals whose application and essay demonstrate a commitment to serving others, which can include family, friends and the larger community. The Benevolent Fund scholarships will also be awarded on the basis of financial need.

Hopelink Giving Tree

The Giving Tree program is one of the ways that the Redmond Fire Fighters Benevolent Fund supports the community work of Hopelink. Partnering with Microsoft, the Benevolent fund helps pick up some of the 25,000 gifts donated by Microsoft employees and their families to nonprofits in the Seattle area. During the holidays, Hopelink's special gift drive helps parents in the community provide memories for their children who would otherwise go without at this time of year.

The support of volunteers and businesses in the area means we can alleviate some of those monetary strains during the holiday season, putting smiles on children's faces and spreading good cheer.
